The June Lineup
Getting back to basics.
All,
A FEW WEEKS back, a member of the Lighten Up community sent me a note, asking if I was getting flack for the topics we were covering. I chuckled, because I was aware that many of the stances being articulated weren’t exactly popular.
But that was exactly why they needed to be covered.
As demonstrated with our metaphor of a K-shaped wellness economy, there is something inherently concerning when self-care – be it fitness, nutrition or, yes, the notion of longevity – becomes something you’re either in or you’re not.
It’s a type of popularity contest that deepens the divide between the haves and the have nots.
Which in terms of wellbeing means that the fit keep getting fitter, while the rest of us (yes, us) wonder if the effort we’re able to put in even counts.
But it does. A lot.
That’s why this month, as many of us in the US embrace the arrival of the summer season, we are going to be exploring the simple, tried-and-true (yet often overlooked) parameters of a healthy lifestyle.
Things like movement – for movement’s sake – fresh air, quality sleep and lots of laughter with people you love.
I like to call them essentials, as in they really are non-negotiable when it comes to thriving.
Yet in our hierarchical world of wellness, they’ve lost they’re power.
Because they’re not sexy.
Nor, it’s worth mentioning, do they cost you a dime.
So if you – like me – are looking for a refresher on what habits have the biggest return, and would like to achieve this while feeling more grounded, more in touch with your roots, then I hope you will follow along (lineup is below).
Our only objective will be to get back to basics.
To prove – to ourselves – that we already have everything we need to feel our best right within our reach (and, in some instances, outside our front door).
Here’s to you,
