Are We There Yet?
Resiliency is not just about getting to the other side.
All,
As we continue to move through the shortest yet seemingly longest month of the year, I wanted to send some quick perspective about the notion of wintering.
This has been sparked by commentary I seem to encounter daily centered around a collective “are we there yet?” mentality when it comes to the spring.
A communal groan, if you will, regarding the dark and cold.
But since we’re not here to talk about weather (we get that, right?), I feel it’s important to address the typical head-down-barrel-through mentality that tends to persists when things get dark and cold within ourselves.
Because they do. It’s part of being human.
Yet where we go wrong is believing that this is simply something we have to tolerate to get to the other side.
Because the bad days, Gang (that sometimes stretch into bad weeks or even bad seasons of life) are all part of the dance. And it’s ultimately how we navigate them that prompts growth.
That has us standing stronger — with thicker roots — when we once again find the sun.
So whether you are dealing with some less-than-desirable “weather,” or know of someone who is, may I encourage you to find the power that resides in a winter.
If you’re willing to burrow deep, I think you just might find that you find comfort.
The essentials.
The people, the places that feel like home when nothing else does.
Here’s to you,
